Bertrand Grospellier: A French Poker Pro Who Resides in South Korea
Bertrand Grospellier was born on February 8, 1981. He is a French poker professional but currently lives in South Korea. He is not only a poker professional but a professional gamer as well. In Korea, he is considered as one of the best players of Starcraft. He is also known in the computer gaming industry as "ElkY." He has been displaying his exceptional skills in playing a real-time computer strategy game and has decided to use such skills in playing professional poker. Now, some poker professionals have started to observe Bertrand Grospellier as he has started showcasing his talent in playing poker.
Bertrand Grospellier participated in the French Open on February 19, 2005. The French Open formed part of the European Poker Tour. He joined the No Limit Hold'em game and finished in the ninth place. His take home cash prize was US$2,621.
At the Scandinavian Open organized by the European Poker Tour on January 20, 2007, Bertrand Grospellier became a runner up in a No Limit Hold'em game, taking home US$406,726. Two months later, he joined European Poker Tour's Polish Open, finishing in the money with US$8,181 cash prize.
Bertrand Grospellier was also a participant of the 38th Annual World Series of Poker. He joined and cashed in the money in three No Limit Hold'em events, placing 68th, 21st and 9th, winning US$6,966, US$20,806 and US$29,124, respectively.
Bertrand Grospellier also reached the final table of a No Limit Hold'em game organized by the Asian Poker Tour on November 22, 2007. The cash prize that Bertrand Grospellier was able to win from such event was US$48,576.
Bertrand Grospellier has had numerous poker feats to boast of but above all, the most remarkable one is also his latest appearance in the live poker tournament circuit. On January 10, 2008, he was a contestant of another No Limit Hold'em game but this time, it formed part of the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure, which is an event of the European Poker Tour. He emerged as the first placer, taking home the grand prize of US$2,000,000.
Bertrand Grospellier is one of the members of Team PokerStars. He is considered as the first poker player to attain PokerStars' Supernova status and Supernova Elite status.
He has earned more than US$2,500,000 from live poker events alone ever since he won on January 10, 2008.
